Calvin Kian Estella
https://ckest.websiteI am a designer who brings personal and visual storytelling through digital media. My background is influenced by personal experiences of the Filipino identity, anti technofeudalist philosophy, and tech-integrated realities visualized through my work. With design, I have used it to journal my everyday life subjects to conceptualize and document anything I work with. These experiences take inspiration in my everyday life from music, media, fashion, philosophy, and technology. Some examples of my work include collages and interactive designs centered around Filipino culture and music. My practice also spans branding, editorial work, photography, web design, and interactive designs.
iNeuro
This project reflects the contemporary design culture of tech start-ups in the Bay Area. “iNeuro” aims to mock the innovative lust for striking gold at the heart of Silicon Valley, showing how technology today has reframed the American capitalist dream.
The Neuroverse, an official product of iNeuro, highlights how bizarre product advertising can be designed to enthrall customers about tech and human symbiosis at a large market scale. This parody-made start-up company creates this interaction between the user and product to mirror an unthinkable reality in their near future. Inspirations of this mock-up company comically echoes references of well-known tech companies that started as “stupid” ideas to marketable inventions. iNeuro presents how design can create unthinkable realities to people through minimalist designs that reflect the corporate product environment.
