Megan Ponce<\/strong><\/h4>

Major: Design<\/p>

My name is Megan Ponce and I am a designer. I have always had an interest in the arts and have experience in many different mediums. I began developing my skills in digital art while in high school, where I found my passion for illustration and began thinking about a career in the arts. Later on, I worked as president of my high school yearbook club, which sparked my love of graphic design. To this day, I am still interested in publication design, similar to my design process in the yearbook club. My computer science minor has helped me focus on web design and explore digital animation. While my current efforts are being put towards furthering my brand and advertising design skills, I aspire to continually expand my expertise and eventually work with different types of design throughout my career.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Fabric of Identity<\/strong><\/h3>

I intended to create a clothing wall display promoting different blind box identities of a person. The project explores the societal & cultural influences and fashion decisions that build a person\u2019s identity. I will explore what influences a person\u2019s style choices and how their choices correlate to their identity, while also exhibiting my experience and cultures. I hope to learn about my culture and others through their fashion style. I want to feel closer to my culture by understanding the design choices behind different cultural attire. I also wish to explore my feelings of how I perceive myself and how others perceive me through my fashion choices.<\/span><\/p>

Coming from a background of two different cultures, Filipino and Vietnamese, I saw the similarities and differences in clothes, food, and traditions. I wanted to explore these similarities more through a medium I had an interest in, fashion. I explored how different regions influenced what materials were used in fashion. For example, both cultures integrated rice hats into their daily fashion since both countries have an abundance of rice fields. These similarities and differences are what I continue to explore throughout my project. As I gained insight into these cultures on a personal level, I hope the viewer can learn a little more about my heritage.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
