Zo\u00eb Amburn<\/strong><\/h4>

Zo\u00eb Amburn is an artist born and raised in Seattle, Washington and later from Denver, Colorado, who is exploring uses of multimedia, and has been interested in visual arts from a very early age. Although experienced in a variety of mediums, she is most proficient in acrylic painting, as well as colored pencil illustrations, with a speciality in realistic portraiture because of her deep interest in people. Her art focuses on the human experience and the relationship between the ordinary and unique parts of everyday life. She also has had her work displayed in the China Brotsky Gallery in the Presidio, twice in the Thacher Gallery and later in the X Arts space as a part of the USF exhibition \u201cIgnotus\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Anatomy of Absence<\/strong><\/h3>

This installation uses various kinds of media and plays with texture and extreme dimensions in order to show the multiple facets of internal and external anatomy doing so through grotesque imagery of the human body. On the surface, we are merely vessels\/bodies (bags of meat and bone) but internally, every one of us are layered beings and shaped by our different unseen struggles. I wanted to take time to really experiment with what materials worked best and how my thoughts on exploration of the body changed over the course of this project. This piece challenges the notion that bodies must be aesthetically contained or controlled, and instead have it seen as an act of reclamation and autonomy and force the viewer to see the embodied existence beyond just the surface. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
