Pronouns: she/her
Major: Design
I am a graphic designer based in San Jose, CA. My passion for design began at a young age, shaped by my love for video games, creative writing, and drawing. I was captivated by the immersive worlds of video games, which sparked my interest in digital art and interactive media during my high school and university years. The experience of navigating college during the pandemic prompted deep self-reflection on the direction I wanted to take in my design career. This period of introspection led me to discover the specific area of design that truly inspires me, one that continues to drive my creative endeavors, including my senior design thesis and other projects. At the core of my work, I aim to create experiences that evoke powerful emotional responses and provide space for self-exploration. I believe that emotions are central to human action and experience, and as an artist, I strive to channel these emotions into my creations, allowing others to connect with and better understand their own feelings. As a designer, my goal is to craft works that help individuals explore their emotions, fostering a deeper understanding of themselves and the diverse ways in which we experience the world around us.
HoloMind
HoloMind is an immersive, interactive experience designed to explore the hidden depths of the human mind, offering a tangible representation of your inner self. By blending elements of both traditional and contemporary media, this project evokes a sense of nostalgia through its graphic style and aesthetic choices, while simultaneously delving into the enigmatic workings of the subconscious. The human brain is often described as a “black box”, a complex system whose full mechanisms remain largely beyond our comprehension. With this in mind, HoloMind uses a carefully crafted interactive quiz to uncover the subconscious elements that shape your thoughts and perceptions, allowing you to explore facets of your psyche that are typically outside of conscious awareness. In a world where we interact with our environment subconsciously, this project aims to bring those hidden influences to the forefront.
Through the quiz, participants will receive a personalized 8-bit icon representing their unique psychological profile, offering insight into their inner selves. As the experience unfolds, this symbol will be transformed into a hologram, bridging the gap between the abstract world of thought and the tangible reality of physical media. By merging nostalgic elements, like a CRT screen and 8-bit graphics, along with futuristic technologies, HoloMind creates a unique intersection of old and new media while inviting users to reflect on how external circumstances shape their internal world. Ultimately, HoloMind not only reveals a hidden side of yourself, but also connects the past and future, offering a new way of interacting with and understanding the mind.
