Blue Hours, Golden Days

Young adults are always inundated with the instructions, ideas, and concepts of how to live. Social media and influencers push dreamlike 30 under 30 obsession ideologies of where young adults should be in their early 20s. Societal pressures from social media, mass propaganda, and influencers contort experiences of living. Beauty brands tell young kids to obtain beauty through expensive beauty products, influencers falsify the standard of living at a young age, posters and ads are used to push messages of achieving a sustainable living at a young age. Life isn’t an experience that’s determined by success and position.

Blue Hours, Golden Days is an installation that consists of documentary and fashion. The documentary captures a month-long shoot of the young artist documenting his life to explore “how to live” in a raw fashion. Wanting the audiences to grasp an realistic ideology of the beauties of life. Three jackets will be incorporated into the installation. One toddler jacket representing a child’s freedom of mind and thought, a regular adult jacket that will be worn throughout the video in representation of a persons’ natural state of being, and a beat up leather jacket that is a representation of time and old age. During the show, Ahmad Mixon will incorporate an interactive experience that allows people to write on the leather jacket with graffiti markers where they will write a word or phrase that allows them express what takeaways and themes they took from the documentary in relation to life/living.
