Gianna Palanca

Gianna Palanca

Pronouns: they/them
Major: Fine Arts

Gianna Palanca is a San Francisco based multidisciplinary artist grounded in both traditional and digital media. Their work encompasses painting, illustration, mural art, and graphic design, with a focus on bold color, intricate pattern, and narrative imagery. Much of their work explores absurdity and satire as a way to reflect on identity, culture, and contemporary life. As they continue to grow professionally, they remain committed to refining their craft and deepening their engagement with public and community-based art.

Queer Code

Gianna’s thesis, “Queer Code” explores everyday acts of queer recognition and resistance. Questions that animate this body of work are: How do we recognize each other in a world that does not recognize us? What is the texture of our unspoken intimacies? Where do we gather and how do we disperse and disappear if needed? This collection invites the viewer into the field of meaning a queer gaze makes possible.
