Design Major and Architecture Minor

Howdy! My name is Emmanuel Flores Garcia, I was born in Pachuca, Mexico but raised in Santa Barbara, California and now I’m graduating from the University of San Francisco. Design to me is a form of storytelling and a form of connecting with others with similar interests and perspectives. I’m currently passionate about how humans can become more sustainable and how we can change architecture to reduce embodied carbon, reduce waste, and maximize energy efficiency.

Green

Green is all about making sustainable living accessible and engaging through three interconnected avenues: a book, an architectural model demonstrating sustainable methods, and an interactive website. My inspiration for this came from my passion to keep the planet clean, and to inform others about simple solutions in maintaining our planet. Welcome to “Green,” your go-to resource for embracing sustainability in everyday life. Throughout my book, I invite consideration into topics that matter most when it comes to living in harmony with our planet. From composting kitchen scraps to ditching single-use products, and alternative transportation, I hope to  provide  practical tips and inspiring stories to help you make a difference right from your own home.

Complementing the book is an architectural model that shows my own effort to explore  innovative sustainable design principles in action. This tangible representation allows viewers  to visualize and understand how eco-conscious architecture can be integrated into real-world environments. From passive solar design to rainwater harvesting systems, the architectural model serves as possible inspiration for architects, designers, and homeowners seeking to adopt sustainable practices in their projects. Furthermore, our project features a dynamic that  offers resources for sustainability, project updates, additional insights from experts, and interactive tools for individuals to assess and improve their sustainability efforts. Through engaging multimedia content, the website fosters a sense of community and empowerment, encouraging visitors to become active participants in the sustainable living movement. Because when we come together to live green, we’re not just improving our lives, we’re shaping a healthier, happier future for generations to come.
