Hi there, I’m a San Francisco-based graphic designer and art director with an affinity for typography, branding, and print design. My huge love for art and music heavily influences my design style and I have hopes to be a designer in the entertainment world in the near future!

Que Sera, Sera

Que Sera, Sera investigates why humans are fascinated with knowing our futures, demonstrated through the ancient practice of tasseography. Originating in Eastern culture, tasseography is the practice of reading the shapes of materials such as leaves and coffee grounds in teacups in order to help people answer questions in regard to their futures. Through simulating a tasseography reading, this project invites the audience to question what they desire for their futures and asks them to critique whether or not such knowledge would be truly beneficial to possess. The materials employed in this project are divided into three categories—natural, personal, and print—in order to emulate the intertwining elements of my life and their influence on how I approach an uncertain future.

This project invites visitors to consider the mystery of the future and the ways in which we try to come to terms with our lack of knowledge about what lies ahead. Despite our best efforts to plan and prepare, unknown factors can always impact our lives in
unpredictable ways. Through the lens of this ancient fortune-telling practice, Que Sera, Sera asks us to consider the value of accepting the unknown, learning to live with uncertainty, and embracing the journey, wherever it may lead.
