Design Major

I moved to San Francisco from Chicago to attend USF. After
exploring different academic options, I discovered a passion for art and design and became a design major. Through my exploration, I gained knowledge in various topics such as literature, feminism,
and the environment, which have influenced me as a designer.

scrap

Scrap focuses on shedding light on the issues of fashion consumerism culture and informing people about alternative ways to use old clothes. I hope to inspire other individuals to try to enhance their wardrobe without heading to their favorite online shopping site. The textile industry is associated with an overwhelming number of environmental, humanitarian, and economic issues. Issues that have become especially concerning since the development of fast fashion. Fast fashion aims to keep up with the trends, cycling through them as quickly as they can get the garments made and shipped from overseas factories where workers work for little pay or benefits. This system leads to millions of tons of textiles ending up in the trash many of which were never even worn. As a lover of fashion with climate anxiety and not a lot of money I have been forced to employ other methods of wardrobe regeneration and I aim to excite others to the same.
