Hiii! I am a black graphic designer from Chicago, IL. My interest in design lies in illustration, publication and fashion. I also have a passion for French culture as I’ve studied the language for over 4
years. I am open minded, a fast learner continuing to seek out new experiences to build my skills as a designer.

What associations, memories, feelings, and objects do we connect to colors?

My project centered on this question from the beginning. To explore this idea beyond myself, I created nine surveys, one for each of the nine colors shown in my project. I asked five simple questions to gain more insight on one’s experience with the assigned color. I then created multiple miniature figures that are hand painted monochromatically to reflect the colors that defined the surveys. Each 3D figure was printed with an assigned color to objects, ideas, and related associations. My participants responded to posters designed with QR codes that led to the surveys, as well as personally sent links to my family and friends.

The brown hand dyed mannequin displayed represents the part I played in this project. In the beginning, I focused heavily on my participants, but after developing the project, I realized that these responses are also reflections of me. The necklace design on the body holds my responses to my own questions. The imperfections in the pattern of the body, and the imperfections of some of the 3D printed pieces, for me represents the very human and personal foundation of this project. I wanted to keep a human hand throughout. This relates to the idea by displaying our relationships between color within associations, feelings, objects, and memories in our everyday lives and choices. People are free to touch objects on the pedestal but place them where their name is marked.
