I was born in Michigan, raised in multiple cities including Seoul, Atlanta, Shanghai, Singapore, Chicago, and now live in San Francisco. Living in these places has helped mold my global perspective in the context of social justice and environmental issues. As a designer, I believe in the moral responsibility to remain culturally aware and respectful towards whatever and whomever I’m representing in my work. Design allows me to embrace creativity in the way I perceive the world while conveying a compelling story of personal significance to me.
SustainMe
Period poverty is a global issue affecting people who don’t have access to safe, hygienic sanitary products, and/or who are unable to manage their periods with dignity. 1 in 5 people around the world live in period poverty. At the same time, conventional pads and tampons have detrimental effects on the environment and our bodies. SustainMe is a website designed to educate and raise awareness on period poverty, destigmatize menstruation, and demonstrate accessible, sustainable methods for people managing their periods. I focus on three products: menstrual cups, period underwear, and reusable pads. By providing brands, resources, instructional videos, and authentic reviews, my website creates an online community where people feel safe to explore sustainable, safer solutions to transition to a zero waste period routine.
